Sending Money from Canada to the Philippines: Compare the Real Cost
A practical way to compare transfers without trusting the headline fee alone.

Compare the amount received, not only the posted fee
A service can advertise a low fee while using an exchange rate that leaves the recipient with less money. For the same Canadian-dollar amount, compare the final peso amount the recipient will receive after every fee, exchange-rate spread, delivery charge, and promo condition.
Choose the delivery method for the real need
Bank deposit, e-wallet, cash pickup, and home delivery can have different speed, price, limits, and identification requirements. For urgent emergencies, speed may matter. For regular family support, a predictable low-cost method may be better. Confirm whether the recipient can actually access the chosen method.
Watch for first-transfer promotions
Promotions can be useful, but check what the second and third transfer will cost. Read the expiration date, minimum transfer amount, eligible payment methods, and whether the promotional exchange rate is capped.
Protect against impersonation and wrong-recipient transfers
Verify the recipient name, account number, mobile number, and pickup location before confirming. Never send money because a caller claims to be a government officer, relative in trouble, or delivery company demanding payment. Pause and independently contact the person using a known number.
Keep a transfer record for family budgeting
For recurring support, track Canadian dollars sent, pesos received, fees, date, reason, and service used. This helps you compare providers over time and plan your own budget fairly.

- Compare final pesos received for the same CAD amount
- Check exchange rate, fees, delivery cost, and promo conditions
